Nature conservation activities with Tsumami

This elegant tsumami expressed Oki-rhododendron.
Oki-rhododendron is a flower of endemic species in Shimane prefecture. There is a protective group of Oki-rhododendron and they wanted to exhibit Oki-rhododendron through out the year.

Rei Furuya, Tsumami designer undertook this project to cooperate their activity.

By using traditional technique and adding her own idea, she struggled and completed making this beautiful art.
She said that it was challenging but was worth doing.

Oki-rhododendron and Tsumami, they are both valuable for Japan which we Japanese want to leave behind in the future.
This work became irreplaceable collaboration that lead to social contribution.
